Temporal and spatial validation of forest models

SNS Growth and Yield Researchers' Meeting


Nordic & Baltic growth and yield researchers' meeting is going to be held in Estonia on: 22- 23 September 2011.

Institute of Forestry and Rural Engineering of Estonian University of Life Sciences is hosting the meeting and welcomes forest growth and yield researchers from Nordic and Baltic countries to have an open forum of discussion and to cover a wide range of knowledge and experience related to the workshop topic. The meeting will be held in parallel with the NOVA PhD course on Ecology and silviculture of multifunctional forestry.
 

Venue


The meeting will be held in Tartu, Estonia. Tartu can be reached by plane via Tallinn, or by train and bus. More detailed information in Accommodation and travelling.

Workshop on Thursday September 22


The workshop topic is: Temporal and spatial validation of forest models. e a. Hope your expertise can contribute to cover some of the workshop topics and objectives.

We invite oral and poster presentations in subtopics that are following the newest information in:

  • Extension of local or regional forest models
  • Forest models and changing human environment
  • Model comparison and validation
  • Temporal and spatial scaling of forest models

Fieldtrip on Friday September 23


The fieldtrip is planned to North-East of Estonia. We will have a bus trip to long-term research sites where the research is carried out to examine forest growth under changing environmental conditions.
 

Publication of workshop materials


Based on the presentations and topics discussed on the meeting we plan to prepare a paper collection to the journal of Forestry Studies. The reviews and case studies can be included.

Forestry Studies|Metsanduslikud Uurimused (founded in 1939) is a peer-reviewed journal managed by the Institute of Forestry and Rural Engineering, Estonian University of Life Sciences.
