CIVIL ENGINEERING (Rural Building)

The gratuate will be awarded by Estonian Occupational Authority with „Diploma Civil Engineer in Buildings and Structures, EstQF Level 7" (High Education Qualification). Speciality - General Construction. Occupational Qualificatian Standard can be found:

General Objectives

Preparing civil engineers with a master's degree, who has in-depth and specific professional knowledge and skills, are able to take responsibility and make strategic decisions to advance their speciality and profession.

 

Learning Outcomes

After completing the curriculum, graduates will be expected to:

  • have a systematic overview and knowledge of the terminology, theoretical aspects, research methods and trends in the field of civil engineering (e.g. building physics, structural mechanics, building technology), know the ethical aspects of the field;
  • be able to analyse and solve issues related to the field of civil engineering;
  • be able to prepare and design structures according to architectural customs and requirements of good building practice, including issues of nature, environment and rural life;
  • be familiar with principles, methods and technologies of construction management, be able to use IT applications to carry out design tasks;
  • be familiar with the theories of entrepreneurship and bioeconomy; be able to analyse the relationship between the environment and human beings, and create interdisciplinary connections with environmentally friendly building, be able to predict the impact of building activities to people, social sector, the objects of national heritage and environment;
  • be able to independently to conduct research: process data, evaluate and analyse the results obtained; be able to participate in professional discussions orally and in writing on speciality-related theories, problems and conclusions in the language of instructions and in the foreign language most relevant for the speciality, and to participate in specialist/non-specialist discussions;
  • understand the importance of the profession in society and be able to apply interdisciplinary professional knowledge and skills in work, be able to give reasoned assessments in matters concerning his/her profession;
  • be prepared to accept responsibility associated with working as a civil engineer e.g. construction manager or designer in private sector as well as in state-owned organisations, incl internationally; be capable of continuing studies at the doctoral level.
