The Kazakhstani side has expressed a strong interest in learning from Estonia’s experience in both forestry and long-term land-use planning.

During meetings held in Estonia in February, representatives of Shokan Ualikhanov Kokshetau University conveyed their intention to establish a long-term and substantive partnership with the Estonian University of Life Sciences. Discussions focused on forestry and opportunities to enhance the quality of higher education in forestry in Kazakhstan.

Representatives of the Kazakhstani university emphasized their wish to draw upon Estonia’s practical and research-based expertise in forest management and long-term land-use planning. They showed particular interest in afforestation, identifying the Estonian University of Life Sciences as a valuable partner in this field.

The memorandum of cooperation was signed by Rectors Marat Syrlybayev and Ülle Jaakma. The agreement provides a framework for academic mobility of students and teaching staff, the implementation of joint research projects, and the exchange of knowledge in the fields of agricultural and natural sciences.

For the Estonian University of Life Sciences, this new agreement represents a strengthening of international cooperation and opens up new opportunities for research and knowledge exchange with higher education institutions in Central Asia.
