Olavi Kurina

Professor in Entomological Systematics

My research focuses on the patterns and taxonomy of insect diversity on a global scale, using both morphological and molecular methods. I specialize in the dipteran superfamily Sciaroidea, with my current work centred on writing a Nordic-Baltic monograph and revising Afrotropical and Ecuadorian species. To date, I have described nearly 200 taxa new to science from various regions around the world.
