The interdisciplinary research of the working group combines forestry, environmental, economic, and social sciences to find the best solutions for the sustainable use of forests and forest ecosystem services. The focus of the research is on the effective, optimal, and sustainable management of forests as an important natural resource in Estonia. Emphasis is placed on assessing the profitability of forestry activities, the value of forests, and forest ecosystem services. The use and impact of various policy instruments for ensuring the sustainability of forestry are analyzed. The role of interest groups involved in forest policy in shaping and implementing forest policy is also examined.
